Review of The Tantus Panacea Vibrator

The Panacea Vibrator, named for the Greek goddess of “universal remedy”, is a limited edition vibrator made by Tantus to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society. All this month, 100% off the proceeds from the sales of these vibrators will be donated through Tantus’ Relay for Life group.

Cancer, unfortunately, touches the lives of almost everyone in some way or another. I’ve had many friends and family who have gone to battle with this disease, some never to live to fight another day. And so, for helping with the fight against cancer, my adoration for Tantus has only grown further.

Packaging: My Panacea Vibrator came in a plastic bag that had a paper flap attached to it. The flap had some information about the company and silicone, but there were no cleaning instructions or anything of that nature. Instead, the paper directs you to the company website for care instructions.

Generally, Tantus toys come nestled in a plastic cradle inside a clear plastic box. Since this is a limited edition toy just for this month, I’m assuming that’s why it wasn’t in one.

Batteries do come with the bullet vibrator.

Material: All Tantus toys are hand-made in the U.S.A. from the highest quality 100% Premium Platinum Silicone (If cared for properly, they will last a lifetime). That means they’re hypoallergenic, hygienic, phthalate-free, latex-free, odorless, tasteless, boilable, bleachable, and completely nontoxic! They are also manufactured 100% green.

Firmness / Texture / Design: This toy is fairly solid, with a very slight amount of squish to it. It can be bent into a u-shape with some effort. Although it is fairly rigid, it does bend during use to make the experience more comfortable. Make no mistake, though, it’s not floppy by any means.

The surface is smooth and glossy, which provides some drag. Due to this, and the ridges, you’ll probably want to use a good amount of lube. Trailing down the side where the frenulum would be are what I would call four waves of ridges; there’s one at the head, one below it, one in the middle of the shaft, and one closer to the base. These flow around to the other side of the shaft, and feather downwards towards the base.

The Panacea Vibrator is actually a beautifully re-colored Goddess Vibrator, with pearlescent swirls of white and purple. This is best seen at the base, where the vibrator cavity is.

To insure that the bullet doesn't get stuck, the cavity has various ridges in it. This prevents a vacuum from forming and making removal impossible.

I discovered something about the base, while I was washing Panacea without the bullet vibrator; I don’t need the suction cup adapter to get this toy to stick. The adapter is available for toys that have the same bullet vibrator cavity as this toy does, and is designed to turn them into suction cup dildos. However, not having the bullet in, and having the toy wet, I can slap it down and have it stick fairly securely. Of course, the adapter is going to provide better suction, but I figured I would share my discovery. For light play, it might stay up, but you should get the adapter if you plan on normal to heavy play with it.

Vaginal Use: Although the texture did seem a bit intimidating, due to the firmness of the ridges, it’s quite comfortable during use. If you have a shallow g-spot, the ridges may work out pretty well for you. I’m fairly petite, and mine isn’t very deep within my body, so it works nicely for me. Of course, there’s no typical g-spot curve to the shaft. Angled just right, I can get the stimulation I want, but this may not work for everyone.

The ridge of the head does provide a pleasant sort of pop during insertion and removal. If not angled properly, though, the ridge below the head can be a little too much pressure upon insertion and removal. I generally use rather shallow thrusts with this toy, and keep it angled toward my g-spot.

Really, I didn’t get a whole lot of stimulation from the bullet vibe being in this toy, so I just removed it and used it for a clit vibe. The vibrations are buzzy, and it died after about half an hour. You can replace the bullet with another of the same diameter, if you so choose.

Anal Use: I really would not recommend this toy for anal use. The base doesn’t have much of a flair to it. This means that it could get sucked up entirely by hungry butts. And, even if it didn’t, that base isn’t much to hold onto. Once the toy would be fully inserted, it would probably be difficult to get a grip on it.

Vibration Intensity: The vibrations of the bullet vibrator in this toy are very buzzy, and seem to me like they’re cut about in half in intensity when they reach the head. What you get in intensity is your average one-speed vibe; decently powerful, but not the greatest thing in the world.

Expect this vibrator to last about half an hour, before it dies.

Vibration Noise: This depends on where you have the bullet vibe. If you’re using it separately, it’s pretty loud (3/5). If you have it inserted into the toy while it’s on, that helps muffle it a degree. If you have roommates, or someone you just don’t want to know about your toy time, I’d keep some soft background music on to cover up the sound.

Compatible Lubricants: Water-based lubricant is recommended. Silicone lube can be used, but Tantus advises a patch test beforehand. Place a small amount of lube on the base and wait. If things start feeling tacky or gummy, scrape and wash that stuff off and never use it on your toy.

Cleaning: If you have a big enough pot, you can boil the silicone part for 5-10 minutes, stick it in the top rack dishwasher on a regular cycle, wipe with a 10% bleach solution and rinse, or simply wash with a mild soap and water. Allow it to air-dry, or wipe it with a lint-free towel before storage. Toy cleaners and wipes are also fine. Take extra care to clean the imprinted name at the base, as it may gather fluids. For the bullet, you can wipe it down with a toy wipe or 10% bleach solution. Since the Tantus logo does tend to gather fluids, you’ll want to make sure that’s scrubbed out well.

Storage: Always remove the batteries from your vibrator before storage. This can extend the life of the batteries, and will prevent accidental leakage and corrosion if the batteries happen to go bad while they’re in your vibrator.

Keep the Panacea Vibrator somewhere where it won’t collect dust and hair, and where it won’t get squished or touch other toys. You can keep it in a bag, a toy storage unit, the packaging that it will come in, or wherever it will stay safe and clean.

Opinion: Yes, I picked on the bullet plenty. I hate bullets, for the most part, though. The only other issue I have is the ridge below the head. If this toy were a softer blend of silicone, like the O2 line, I doubt it would be much of a problem for me at all. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful toy made for a great cause. Keeping it at the perfect angle for my g-spot generally keeps the ridge below the head from becoming uncomfortable, so it’s not too much of an issue. It’s something to keep in mind, though, when purchasing this toy. And, if you’re thinking of using it for anal, do be careful, since the base isn’t flared much.
