Review of the Tantus Pack ‘n Play No. 2

The line of Tantus Pack ‘n Play dildos was created to offer a toy that could be used not only for packing, but for penetration, as well. The soft silicone of this toy is designed to allow it to be packed comfortably in a harness underneath clothing, which the harder silicone inside the base makes it stand to attention when you drop your pants. This seemed almost too good to be true, so I just had to get my hands on one to review, namely the Tantus Pack ‘n Play No. 2.

Packaging: Dallas Novelty shipped my toy discreetly. There was no information on the package as to what was inside of it, and there was no mention of the company name in the return address. What you see to the right is what you get.

The toy came in a plain brown box, nestled in packing paper along with the packing slip.

As for the actual product packaging, it’s consistent with the typical Tantus packaging; the toy is nestled inside a clear, plastic cradle, housed in a clear plastic box with information about the company, material, and a brief statement about the cleaning options. The package makes no recommendations on compatible lubes, or contains any explicit directions for cleaning and care. Instead, you’re directed to the manufacturer’s website.

To help identify the toy, there is a pink sticker on the front that says “Pack ‘n’ Play.” The package could be reused for storage, if you so choose.

Size / Details:

• Length: 6.5"
• Insertable Length: 5.5"
• Circumference: 4.5"
• Diameter: 1 1/2"
• Harness Compatibility: O-ring compatible
• Weight: 10 oz
• Color: Cocoa (There’s only one color. Cocoa is about the color of milk tea.)
I realize that it may look huge, but keep in mind that my wedding ring is a size 4, and is still loose on me. Anything I hold looks bigger than it is.

Material / Firmness: All silicone toys made by Tantus are hand-made green in the U.S.A using the highest quality 100% Premium Platinum silicone. This means, if properly cared for, this toy can last a lifetime. It’s hypoallergenic, phthalates-free, latex-free, odorless, tasteless, boilable, bleachable, and completely non-toxic.

This toy can be share between partners, if properly sterilized first. Also, never switch from anal to vaginal penetration with this toy without sterilizing it first, unless you use a clean condom for each orifice. Silicone toys and silicone-based lubricants don’t always play well together. It’s because of this reason that you should test how certain lubricated condoms react to the toy, as some can have silicone-based lubricants.

The density of this toy is much like that of the O2 line – squishy outer layer covering a harder core – but the core only reaches through about 1/3 of the toy. The base is very dense, while a couple inches of the shaft are squishy, yet firm on the inside. The rest of the shaft, along with the head, is very squishy. The entire toy can easily be bent, twisted, and even wrung out like a car chamois. Despite all that abuse, it readily snaps back to its original shape. Although the core isn’t present through the whole toy, it can still easily stand on its own without being floppy.

Compatible Lubricant: Water-based lubricant is recommended for use with this toy. Silicone-based lubes can be used, but a patch test is advised when using silicone-based lubricant with any silicone toy. Silicone-based lubes can bond to silicone, causing a gummy mess. This is either due to low-grades of silicone used for toys and/or lubricants. Dab a small amount on the base of the toy and wait. If the toy and/or the lube start feeling sticky or tacky, scrape that stuff off, wash the toy well, and never use that lubricant on your toy again.

Texture / Design: In addition to the dual-density, this toy also has a dual finish. The head is smooth and glossy, while the shaft has a matte texture that feels soft and fairly similar to the skin on the shaft of a penis.

This toy is very similar in design to the Tantus Mark O2 Dildo. The only difference is that the solid core only comes 1/3 of the way up the shaft, to allow the Pack ‘n Play to be easily packed. The head and upper shaft are very squishy. About 2/3 of the way down from the head, you’ll feel the solid core beneath the soft, squish layer of silicone. This continues to the base, which is actually quite firm.

The design is fairly realistic, although subtle in some places. You’ll find three veins climbing up the shaft, and a noticeable corpus spongiosum. The head has a slight lip to it, along with a subtle frenulum leading up to the urethra.

Packing / Harness Play: I’m a tiny thing (5’1” and 98lbs), which means that this toy makes it look like I have a trouser snake. Pair that with the fact that most of my jeans are fairly tight, and you have a recipe for disaster. Not only do I have a bulge going down my pants, the base smashes against my vulva in a manner that becomes uncomfortable after about a minute.

In Tantus’ defense, I can’t say I own any male jeans, so that could be most of my problem. However, the shaft is a little firm for packing, in my opinion.

As a harness-compatible dildo for pegging, I can’t say I’ve had any issues with it. Right when I pull down my pants, it stands at a attention, ready to go. The shaft is firm enough for penetration and for thrusting.

Vaginal Use: Due to the soft finish of the shaft, and the dual density, this dildo feels pretty realistic. Of course, the glossy head doesn’t feel like the real thing, but the rest is pretty close. The lip of the head isn’t very pronounced, so don’t expect much of pop. Also, since the pronounced veins are so soft, I don’t really notice them. For the most part, the dildo feels pretty smooth in use. If you’re used to more texture, g-spot stimulation, or a size larger than average, you may want to go with a bigger O2 dildo.

Anal Use: The flared base on this dildo means that it’s suitable for anal play. It’s decently slim and cushiony, so I would probably recommend it possibly from beginner to intermediate. Always use plenty of lubricant and take an adequate amount of time to work up to the size of this dildo for anal penetration.

As with vaginal penetration, there is a very subtle pop from the rim of the head. Due to the round, slick surface of the head, you may or may not have issues with it sliding right off a slick anus instead of going in. As long as you’re warmed up and stretched out enough, though, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Although the solid core doesn’t extend through the whole shaft, this dildo is fine for thrusting. Since there’s not much of a curve, and since it does bend, don’t expect to get very direct prostate stimulation out of it.

Cleaning: If you have a large enough pot to where the toy will not touch the sides during immersion, you can boil this for 5 minutes. It can also be sent through the dishwasher (sans detergent), wiped with a 10% bleach solution and rinsed, or simple washed with a mild soap and water. Most toy cleaners and toy wipes are also fine. Take extra care cleaning around the urethra and edge of the head.

Storage: Keep this toy somewhere where it will not be squished or touch other toys, and where it will not collect dust and hair. You can keep it in a lint-free bag, a toy storage unit, its packaging, or wherever you feel it will be safe.

Opinion: As a dildo, it’s great. For packing, I’m just not so sure on that one. Sure the shaft is softer because it’s made of soft silicone without the harder core going the the entire middle of it, but it’s still pretty firm to bend into a pair of pants. If your pants are too tight, the base can dig into your vulva while your pants show off your trouser snake. If your pants are too baggy, then you’ll just be popping a tent.

I’ll still be using it for harness play and as a dildo, but this isn’t something I would consider packing with. I love the concept, but I just haven’t gotten it to work for me…
