Review of the Tantus Tsunami Vibrator

The Tantus Tsunami is a beautiful water-proof silicone vibrator with a series of choppy waves and a lovely rounded head. Each wave crest is intended to provide targeted pressure for G-spot stimulation like no other. Because of the flared base, it’s also anal-safe, and can be used in a harness for strap-on play. If you want to, you can also take the bullet vibrator out of the cavity to use the silicone dildo by itself and/or use the bullet vibrator as a clitoral vibe.

Packaging: The product packaging is very typical of Tantus toys. Inside a clear plastic box, you’ll find the silicone dildo and bullet vibrator cradled in form-fitting plastic. Printed on the outside of the box is information about Tantus, the silicone that they use, and brief cleaning instructions. No lubricant recommendations or cleaning/care instructions are printed on the box or included within it. For that information, you’re directed to their website. Because the packaging seems fairly durable, it would be suitable for toy storage.

My wedding ring is a size 4, so most things I hold look rather larger.

Material / Firmness: All Tantus sex toys are made from 100% Premium Platinum silicone, one of the highest quality silicones out there. If this is properly cared for, it can last a lifetime. Plus, it’s phthalates-free, latex-free, has no taste or odor, and can be easily sterilized with a number of different methods.

The bullet is made from ABS plastic with a shiny silver coating. It also has a purple silicone washer to prevent fluids from entering the small vibrator, and a purple silicone control button.

If the silicone dildo is properly sterilized in-between partners, this toy can be shared. I would be very careful cleaning/sharing the bullet. Fluids could get trapped in tiny crevices, and you wouldn’t want to accidentally transmit anything. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem, but it wouldn’t hurt to be careful.

The firmness, while softer than what I was expecting, still isn’t that forgiving. If you’ve ever had one of those little super balls that bounce all over the place, that’s about how firm the silicone of this vibrator is. It has a little give, but it is overall very firm. It can be bent in half with a little effort, but it readily snaps back into shape. Because the cavity to accommodate the bullet vibrator is 2 1/2” long, taking the bullet vibrator out does soften up the lower half of the shaft a bit.

Compatible Lubricants: It’s best to use water-based lubricants only with this toy. Tantus toys can withstand a lot of silicone-based lubes, but silicone toys and silicone lube don’t always play together nicely. If you plan on using a silicone-based lubricant, test a small drop on the base first. If, after a while, the area feels sticky or gummy, wash/scrape the area clean and use a different lubricant.

I personally prefer to use water-based lubricants only, and am partial to the Sliquid line of lubes.

Texture / Design: The Tantus Tsunami is a beautifully well-made dildo with no seams and a very smooth, semi-matte finish. It has some drag to it, so a good water-based lubricant is recommended.

Below the rounded, curved head is a series of three waves, each a little shorter than the last as they reach the base. These waves wrap around the the shaft and produce a series of 3 ridges closer towards the base, as well as some long strokes down from the head. The top of the base is embossed with the Tantus logo, while the bottom is smooth and glossy.

The base of the dildo easily fits in my small hand, is o-ring compatible, and has a textured cavity to accommodate the bullet vibrator that is included. This texture prevents an airtight seal that could trap the bullet inside. Still, if you cram the bullet in too far, it can be difficult to get it back out. Lubing up the hole before inserting the bullet is a good idea. If you find you can’t get it out, wiggle the bullet back and forth, dripping lube into the crevices created when moving it. You should be able to jiggle it lose after a while. If not, then it’s time to get the pliers out… which I’ve had to do...

As for the bullet, it’s very smooth, aside from the embossed logo. It looks very much like a bullet, and has a slightly pointed tip for pinpoint stimulation. If you have to use the pliers to remove it from the dildo, it’s probably going to end up with some divots and/or scratches on it. Mine has some. I don’t particularly like bullet vibes, though. So, it’s not that big of a deal to me.

Noise Level: The amount of noise this little bullet vibe makes is about a 2/5, whether or not it’s in the vibrator cavity of the dildo. You’re probably going to hear it under the covers, but it can’t be heard through closed door.

Vibration Level: The bullet vibrator included with this silicone dildo is a one-speed, push-button vibe. It has fairly buzzy surface vibrations, which I would say are moderate in strength. My husband and I have agreed on 2.5/5 when used without the dildo. It’s okay for clitoral stimulation, but it’s been delegated to more of a last-resort sort of vibe for me, if all my other vibes lose their charge.

When inserted into the vibrator cavity of the dildo, we’re stuck between giving it a 1.5/5 or a 2/5. The vibrations carry decently well, but they certainly are dampened by the silicone and are strongest at the base. I can’t really feel much of the vibrations, once this is in me, and find the vibrator rather pointless. I’m used to stronger vibes, and this just doesn’t cut it.

Vaginal Use: The waves may look a little intimidating, but they’re actually very manageable for me. I can’t quite make it past the last wave, but the others are fairly easy to insert and less intense than I thought they would be.

With plenty of water-based lubricant to help, the head slides in with no issue, and I can get over the first wave. There’s not a whole lot of sensation from thrusting past the first wave. It’s rather tame, and this upper half of the shaft feels rather smooth to me. However, the head is great for firm pressure for G-spot stimulation.

I can generally only make it past the second wave. The last wave is just too far down for me to get to. Because the silicone used for this dildo is firmer than some other silicone toys that I have, it just doesn’t feel comfortable for me to try to get it inserted all the way to the base. I can feel the second wave more than the first, and it does provide a little more pressure. If I plan to take the toy to this length, I generally stick with moderate thrusts. Otherwise, it can feel like too much.

It’s not particularly filling, compared to some of my other toys and it feels really smooth to me, despite the waves. So, its main lure is the wondeful G-spot stimulation that it can provide.

Anal Use: Make sure you take plenty of time to warm up and use plenty of lube. The rounded head can slip right off a tight anus, and you don’t want to cause any damage just trying to jam it in.

I can’t say that the Tsunami is one of my favorite toys for anal. The shape makes it so that I can’t get past the first wave, and the firmness is harder than what I usually prefer. It takes me a decent amount of time to warm up to the size and get past the first wave. Really, this is bigger than I usually prefer for anal. Also, since the vibrations don’t reach the tip very well, there’s not much stimulation from the bullet vibrator. My husband can only make it past the first wave, too. The firm, rounded, curved tip is excellent for prostate stimulation but, like me, he can’t feel much from the vibrator either. Though he has been able to take larger toys, the last couple of waves are just something he doesn’t feel he can get past, or wants to get past.

Cleaning: The silicone dildo part of this vibrator is rather easy to clean. Warm water and a mild soap free of silicone derivatives will do the trick, along with toy wipes and toy cleaner. For a thorough sterilization, you may opt to boil it for 5-10 minutes, wipe it with a 10% bleach solution, or send it through the dishwasher on the top rack with no detergent. Be sure to remove the bullet beforehand! The bullet may also be cleaned with soap and water, toy wipes, or toy cleaner. I would suggest using a spare toothbrush, as fluids can get trapped in the logo, and possibly under the washer and button. Be careful cleaning around the washer and button, though.

Storage: Always remove batteries from vibrators before storage. Not only does it extend the life of the battery, but it may also extend the life of the vibrator, since you’re removing the threat of corrosion from a battery going bad.

If you wanted, you could just return this vibrator to its original packaging, which should hold up well over time. Otherwise, I would recommend some sort of storage pouch or something to keep it safe from dust, hair, and other particles. Don’t let the silicone touch other toys. Toys of varying materials can react and eventually cause reactions that look like melting or other issues.

Opinion: While the Tantus Tsunami Vibrator is really a lovely, well-made toy, I’m not sure how much use it’s going to get around here. I’m usually not patient enough to try to work up to a G-spot orgasm, and the same can be said for hubby for prostate stimulation. Really, though, I think the only thing I have to complain about is how weak the bullet is, and how it can get stuck, but I already knew what I was getting into with that.

Overall, if you’re looking for a great G-spot toy with mild-moderate vibrations, then this would be a good investment. It’s high-quality and made of a material that can be easily sterilized and used for years and years to come. Plus it’s anal-safe, making it great for prostate stimulation, and it works well for harness-play. If you want one for yourself, the green links or pics will take you right to it!
